Kavanagh descendants

My one hour of hobby-indulging today produced the following chart of the KAVANAGH descendants in Excel (click for a higher resolution image):

I’m still struggling to find any connection to other BEGLEYs in Derry, as well as death records for lots of people on this branch. I also have no idea what happened to Patrick’s brother – Joseph Kavanagh – it would be pity if the direct male line had ended with the three brothers.

An hour well spent – now back to “real” work 🙂

Yes, red box is direct ancestors.

And no, you can’t do this in FTM, it only does the box version, which spans across many pages when you have large families. I ended up drawing this myself in Excel, but would love to find software to do it automatically. Not keen on the FTM charts

  1. Hi, have you come across any connection to Sharkey family tree at all ? Charles Kavanagh (Mary Jane Robinson) is noted as being the nephew of Catherine Sharkey, and also owns the plot in Derry City Cem where Catherines brother Francis Sharkey is buried.

Wow, interesting! I have no idea how they connect yet but have your Sharkey family as a floating tree as in my desperation I was building trees for everybody.

I do have Sarah Ann Charkey who is one of the sponsors of the baptim of my husband’s ancestor Patrick Kavanagh. He is the son of Charles Kavanagh and Mary Ann Begley. I had assumed she must be related if she is a godmother, likely sister to one parent or married to a brother. Charles who you refer to m. Mary Jane Robinson is Patrick’s brother- so if he is a nephew, that supports that theory!

Where is he listed as a nephew to Catherine?

I’ll look on a fresh head tomorrow and send you and email, if that’s OK.

      Happy New Year! 🙂
